When you open registration for your event, you may want to create campaigns to track the performance of various sources, media, and content to evaluate their effectiveness in driving registration conversions. This is achieved by generating a trackable link that will allow you to determine the origin of each registration.

To add a new campaign, navigate to the Messaging tab, then select the Campaigns menu item. On the Campaigns screen you'll have the option to add a new campaign and are presented with a list of existing campaigns.

Add a campaign

When you choose to add a new campaign you'll be presented with a modal and will need to input a campaign name and a source. The campaign name will allow you to differentiate between different campaigns and the source is the platform where the traffic originates, like Facebook, a contact list, or a particular email blast.

Once you add a campaign you'll be presented with a number of options. In addition to choosing a campaign source parameter, you can also assign a campaign medium parameter, a campaign content parameter, and a conversion goal. The source, medium, and content will be converted into UTM parameters and will be incorporated into a tracking URL. These parameters will persist with the URL (even between certain networks and mediums) and Attendease will recognize these parameters and associate them with a registration.

Summary of UTM Parameters

Campaign Name – This is just to identify your campaign. Like your website or a specific product promotion.

Campaign Source – The platform (or vendor) where the traffic originates, like Facebook or your email newsletter.

Campaign Medium – You can use this to identify the medium like Cost Per Click (CPC), social media, affiliate or QR code.

Campaign ContentIf you’re A/B testing ads, then this is a useful metric that passes details about your ad. You can also use it to differentiate links that point to the same URL.

Conversion Goal

You also have the ability to add a registration conversion goal. Simply input the number of registrations you would like to see as a result of the campaign and the system will track your progress against the goal.

Select the Tracking URL Landing Page

You have the ability to choose which page on your event website you'd like the tracking URL to link to. Simply select the page from the dropdown.

Copy the Tracking URL

After adding the required UTM parameters and selecting the page you'd like to link to you can copy the resulting tracking URL. You can add this link into an email, Facebook post, or some other medium where it will be clicked on by your audience.

Associated Blasts

While you can disseminate the tracking URL in a number of ways, we recommend associating the campaign with an email blast. First, select the New Blast button under Associated Blasts. Next add a subject line and choose whether to create an email blast or a Personal Invite blast. Personal Invites allow you to send an invitation that can only be used by the recipient and will allow them to access a private Registration Group.

Blasts associated with a campaign will show up in the Associated Blasts section at the bottom of each campaign profile. Note that you'll need to copy the tracking URL and add it to the blast as a link. You will not be able to change the campaign once the blast has been sent to at least one recipient.

Note: If you associate a blast with a campaign, any links in that blast to the event website will automatically become tracked links. The UTM parameters added to that campaign will be appended to the URL and any registration conversions will count towards the goal (if you've set one).

Associating Campaigns with Attendees

Once you've launched your campaign and people begin to register using the tracking URL you'll be able to determine exactly which attendees converted. Navigate to the Registration tab and then select the Attendees menu item.

Click the Campaigns filter and select a campaign to see a list of everyone who registered via that particular campaign. This information will also be available from the Attendee Export that you can download by clicking the Export Attendees button.
