Please, read this full article before enabling two factor authentication on your account.

Enabling two factor authentication

Attendease allows account holder to enable two factor authentication, which adds a second level of authentication (and security) to an account log in. Enable it by following these steps:

  • Log in to an existing account or create a new one. Select the Account tab from the Dashboard, followed by the Password & Security menu item.

  • On the Password & Security screen click the "Enable two factor authentication" button and enter your account password.

A dialog describing the next steps will appear.

  • Download one of the suggested two factor authentication applications to your preferred mobile device (smartphone or tablet). Launch the app and choose to add a new authenticator.

  • Use the QR code scanner to scan the code on the dialog. If you're using Google Authenticator select the "+" icon and then choose "Scan barcode." If you cannot scan the QR code enter the text code provided. Once a code has been scanned or entered an authenticator will be added.

  • Each authenticator verification code is valid for 30 seconds, after which a new code is automatically generated. Enter the verification code produced by the authenticator into the Verification code field on the dialog. If the code expires before you can enter it simply wait until a new code has been generated.

  • Once the code has been verified two factor authentication will be enabled on your account.

Note: You are provided with 10 recovery codes when enabling two factor authentication. Save and keep these safe as you may need them if anything were to happen to your authentication application or mobile device. Once this feature has been enabled do not delete the authenticator app or the authenticator produced. You will need to use the authenticator on your mobile device to log into your account when two factor authentication is enabled.

Log in with two factor authentication

Logging in with the authenticator

With two factor authentication enabled an additional step is added to the usual Attendease login process:

  • Go to dashboard.attendease.com and enter your email and password.

  • Open the authenticator on your mobile device and enter the authentication code before it expires.

  • Click the "Sign In" button

Logging in without the authenticator

You can access your Attendease account even if your authenticator app or your mobile device is unavailable.

  • Go to dashboard.attendease.com and enter your email and password.

  • Select "If your app is unavailable, use a backup code."

  • From this screen enter one of the 10 recovery codes provided when you enabled two factor authentication.

Note: There are only 10 recovery codes available each time two factor authentication is enabled. Should you use 9 of the 10 codes it is highly recommended that you disable two factor authentication from the Password & Security screen before re-enabling it again with a new authenticator. This will enable a fresh version that will provide you with 10 new recovery codes.
