Add as a code snippet

It is possible to add the Google Analytics tracking ID as a code snippet via the "Scripts" tab.

Adding the Google Analytics snippet

If there is existing code in the Custom Head Script file, it should not be overwritten. Add the Google Analytics snippet by following these steps:

  1. On your computer, create a new JavaScript file, e.g. eventname.js.
  2. Copy the existing code found in the Custom Head JS box (arrow 2 in image below) and paste into your newly created file.
  3. Append the Google Analytics code to the code you copied in the previous step. Please refer to "The JavaScript tracking snippet" section below for more information.
  4. Save the file and then upload it (arrow 1 in image below).
  5. Click the "Save Settings" button.
  6. Republish your event site.

Important note: If the snippet contains any script tags—i.e. <script> and </script>— these have to be removed in order for the code to be added properly. This is because these tags are automatically added. Also removed the comments:

<!-- Google Analytics --> and <!-- End Google Analytics -->

The JavaScript tracking snippet

For more in-depth information about adding analytics to your event site click here. The JavaScript tracking snippet is the easiest way to add analytics to your site. The code should be added near the top of the <head> tag and before any other script or CSS tags, and the string 'UA-XXXXX-Y' should be replaced with the tracking ID of the Google Analytics property you wish to track.

<!-- Google Analytics -->

(function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
(i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),
m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)
})(window,document,'script','https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');

ga('create', 'UA-XXXXX-Y', 'auto');
ga('send', 'pageview');

<!-- End Google Analytics -->
